About Miloubar

Miloubar is Israel’s leading animal nutrition company.
Their customers, mainly large-scale breeders, needed a more efficient way to place complex, multiple product orders through the company’s app. As the Lead Designer at Huss&Sam, I was responsible for designing and integrating a new cart system into the existing app, focusing on streamlining the ordering process and improving the overall user experience.

Project Brief
Integrating a shopping cart system into the Miloubar app to enable multiple-item orders, reduce friction in the checkout process, and minimize order abandonment.
Problem

Miloubar’s existing system lacked a central cart functionality. This meant customers had to complete a separate checkout for every single product, making bulk ordering a repetitive and frustrating task. This inefficiency led to high drop-off rates and a poor user experience for their most active customers.

Solution

I designed a cart system that allows users to easily add, review, and modify multiple items before proceeding to checkout. By creating a clear “Review Order” stage and a persistent cart icon, we simplified the user flow, making the process of bulk ordering faster and much more intuitive.

Research

I started by analyzing customer feedback and interviewing Miloubar’s internal teams to understand where users were struggling. By mapping out the current user flow, it became clear that while the products were high-quality, the process of buying them was frustrating for the company’s most loyal customers.

Key Insights

Users needed a way to review their entire order in one place before paying.

Since the users are often busy breeders working in the field, the interface had to be clean and distraction-free.

The repetitive checkout process was the main reason users gave up mid-way.

Design System

To keep the experience consistent, I integrated the new features into Miloubar’s existing brand identity.

Key design elements included:

Persistent Cart Access – A clear cart icon was placed prominently, ensuring users could check their status at any moment.

Contextual “Add to Cart” – I redesigned the product pages to allow quick additions without forcing the user to leave their current screen, keeping the shopping momentum going.

Ideation

I explored several ways to introduce the cart functionality without disrupting the existing user flow. Through wireframing and low-fidelity prototyping, I mapped out different journeys to find the most natural way for breeders to manage their bulk orders.

Design Solutions:

During the ideation phase, I focused on guiding the user through the new flow with clear feedback and touchpoints:

Persistent Cart Visibility - I ensured the cart was always accessible from any screen, allowing users to check their order status instantly.

Real-time Feedback - Added a confirmation pop-up after each ״Add to Cart״ action, giving users the choice to either checkout immediately or continue shopping.

Proactive Reminders - To prevent errors, I added a guidance message at the final payment stage, reminding users they can still add more items before completing the transaction.

Transparency on Limitations - Since the app didn't support saved sessions at that stage, I included a clear warning that exiting the app would empty the cart, preventing frustration later on.

Conclusion

The new cart functionality led to a significant improvement in user satisfaction and a measurable reduction in order abandonment. By giving users the flexibility to manage multiple items, we transformed a repetitive task into a smooth, professional experience.

Takeaways

Consistency is key

By strictly following the existing design system, the new features felt like a natural part of the app from day one.

Simplicity matters

In a complex industrial environment, a clean and intuitive interface is the most effective way to drive user engagement.
